DUSHANBE, 01.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Per instructions and orders of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, 84 Tajik minors were returned from Iraq to Tajikistan.
The children were met and accepted by the Assistant to the President of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Husseinzoda, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Tajikistan Rajabmo Habibullozoda and others.
Tajik minor whose parents are serving prison sentences in Iraq for participating in hostilities on the side of ISIS (banned in Tajikistan) and other terrorist groups or for cooperating with terrorists were returned to Dushanbe.
“This humane act of goodwill, compassion and mercy on the part of the President of our country Emomali Rahmon will be another convincing evidence that the Leader of the Nation thinks about the future of our children, about the future of our people, and he cares about the life and fate of the citizens of our beloved Motherland, wherever they are,” said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda to NIAT Khovar’s correspondent at the airport.
The issue related to returning Tajik citizens, especially minors, from war-torn countries (Iraq and Syria) is under the scrutiny of President Emomali Rahmon.
While these children were repatriated, 95 children and 43 women remain in Iraqi camps, detention centers and prisons.
“Eighty-four of them have already been returned to their homeland, negotiations are underway on the return of 11 more children,” reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
