Faculty history

From the first days of its existence, the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan was formed on the material, technical and personnel base of the Chkalovsk Mining and Metallurgical College. Therefore, it should be noted that the creation of faculties was carried out on the basis of the structure of this college.

In this regard, it should be noted that during the existence of the Mining and Metallurgical College in 2003, two faculties were created – Mining and Metallurgical and Energomechanical. Shermatov Shavkat Mamadzhonovich was appointed the first dean of the mining and metallurgical faculty – candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. Before the creation of TSMU and the Mining Faculty, this faculty was headed by Shokirov Shamsidin Shokirovich (May 26, 2003 – April 30, 2004) and Vakhobov Mirsharif (May 11, 2004 – October 1, 2006).

From the beginning of the 2006-2007 academic year, instead of the ICRC faculties, a new structure was created – the Department for the Training of Junior Engineers, which performed the function of regulating the process of teaching and educating college students.

On September 2, 2008, the Mining Faculty was included in the structure of the institute and replenished with departments. At the beginning of its existence, the Mining Faculty was assigned three departments: development of mineral deposits, General technical sciences and the department of languages.

From the moment of its foundation to the present time, the Mining Faculty has been headed by the following persons: Mukhiddinov Kuvomiddin Riyoziddinovich since 01.04.2009. until 25.08.2009; Niyozov Ahmadjon Mahmudjonovich – 05.09.2009. before 06.03.2012; Abdulloev Ikrom Rabievich from 31.03.2012. before 07/01/2012; Nasriddinov Zamoniddin Zainiddinovich since 07.11.2013 up to 19.10.2015; Niyozov Ahmadzhon Makhmudzhonovich from 19.10.2015 to 04.06.2017; Samadova Guli Mirzhonovna from 16.09.2017 to the present.

In subsequent years, as a result of an increase in the number of students and the opening of new specialties, fundamental changes took place at the Mining Faculty, and since September 2009 the structure of the Mining Faculty has been approved as follows: the Department of Development of Mineral Deposits in the following specialties: 510201-01 – open mining works, 510201-02 – underground mining, 510201-03 – mineral processing; Department of Ecology and Oil and Gas, specialty 330101-05 – Environmental Engineering, 510202 – Development and operation of oil and gas fields; Department of Construction and Engineering Graphics in specialties 700201-06 – mine and underground construction, 510201 – mine surveying, department of languages.

From the moment of its foundation to the present day, the faculty has made a significant contribution to the training of specialists in the field of geology, mining, oil and gas and the construction of underground structures. Since the beginning of the year, the management of the institute with the aim of building up and expanding the real capabilities of the faculty, creating the material and technical base of the newly created departments of the faculty, began to create specialized classrooms, field laboratories and computer classes.

Since its inception, the faculty has organized the admission of students in 6 specialties (and began its educational, methodological and scientific activities). Students in the following specialties were admitted to the first year of the Mining Faculty: underground mining, open pit mining, mineral processing, mine surveying, underground construction and development of oil and gas fields. Taking into account the increase in the number of students of the faculty, it is necessary to expand the educational space and material and technical base. Thus, during the 2008-2009 academic year, an educational building (mining area) was built for the specialization of mineral deposits, which includes 5 classrooms, and one large classroom for 80 students. In 2011, the first number of students of the faculty graduated from the institute in the chosen specialties – 107 people, of which 77 studied in the full-time department and 30 in the correspondence department. Currently, most of the first graduates work in various industrial enterprises in the country.
